University of Cádiz (Kingdom of Spain)

From 13 to 17 April 2026, Olha Rudenko, a lecturer in the Department of Romance Philology at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, took part in a week-long training course entitled “Spanish as a tool for internationalisation: Hispanic Culture through Short Films” (“El español como herramienta de internacionalización: cultura hispánica a través del cortometraje”), organised by the University of Cádiz (Kingdom of Spain) as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

The programme of the visit to the university campus in Jerez de la Frontera involved learning about the experiences of Spanish colleagues. Professional meetings and discussions on the prospects for internationalisation were attended by: José Antonio López Sánchez, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, Professor, PhD; María del Mar Borne Barracina, Deputy Dean for Internationalisation at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, who acted as the coordinator of the “International Staff Week” programme; and Javier de Cosa, Director for Internationalisation of the “International Staff Week” campus.

The practical component of the internship included a series of masterclasses focusing on Andalusian short films, as well as an analysis of the pressing issues facing today’s youth through the lens of cinema. Of particular interest was the screening of short films created by Spanish students themselves. The highlight of the programme was attending the awards ceremony at the Andalusian film festival “Maravíllame” (“Enchant Me”), where the winning entries were presented.

Taking part in the training course enabled Olha Rudenko to gain a better understanding of the linguistic features of the Andalusian dialect, to master new audiovisual tools for their subsequent integration into the process of learning Spanish and to gain a deeper understanding of media communication processes at the University of Cádiz.

On the final day of the internship, a certificate presentation ceremony was held. This event once again highlighted the importance of international academic mobility for the continuous professional development of lecturers and for strengthening Grinchenko University’s partnerships with leading European higher education institutions.
