As part of the institutional cooperation between Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University and Japan University of Economics (Japan), students from the Faculty of Oriental Languages – Myroslav Chupikov, Valeriia Yeltsova, Dmytro Kartavyi and Yevhenii Dziuba – are participating in an international academic mobility programme in Fukuoka, Japan. The study programme at Japan University of Economics comprises an intensive study of specialised disciplines, immersive linguistic practice, and the acquisition of innovative approaches to international communication. The educational process combines rigorous academic training with practical application, enabling students to refine their Japanese language proficiency within both academic and professional discourse.
The academic mobility programme also encompasses the design and implementation of international presentation projects. A significant milestone of the programme was the students' participation in the large-scale international "Food Fair" held at the Marine Messe Fukuoka Exhibition Centre. During the preparatory phase, Grinchenko University representatives developed an adapted menu and designed decorative elements. During the event itself, they presented Ukrainian cuisine in Japanese to approximately 2,000 Japanese experts, buyers and food industry professionals. The Ukrainian stand attracted substantial attention from local media; notably, student Valeriia Yeltsova gave an extensive interview to Japanese print and broadcast media outlets, highlighting the objectives of their academic mobility, as well as Ukrainian culture and traditions.
The participation of our students in international academic mobility programmes underscores the high standard of linguistic and professional training offered at the Faculty of Oriental Languages of Grinchenko University, demonstrates the vital role of cultural diplomacy, and fosters the further strengthening of educational and partnership ties between Ukraine and Japan.
We wish our students continued professional success, fruitful studies, and outstanding achievements as they proceed with their academic mobility programme!
