The Doctoral School is a structural unit of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, which is directly subordinated to Vice-Rector for Research, accountable to and controlled by Rector of the University.
The purpose of the Doctoral School is to organize and coordinate training of applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science.
The main tasks and activities of the Doctoral School are:
- ensuring the activities of postgraduate and doctoral studies at the University;
- providing the organisation of admission to postgraduate and doctoral studies at the University;
- entering information related to the activities of postgraduate and doctoral studies of the University into the Unified State Electronic Database on Education;
- ensuring the organization of admission to postgraduate and doctoral studies at the University;
- organisation of the educational process at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education;
- monitoring the implementation of individual plans for the implementation of educational and research programmes by PhD students (performance of individual research plans and individual curricula for postgraduate students) and the implementation of individual research plans by doctoral students (control of intermediate and final certification - reporting on the status of performance of individual plans);
- monitoring the quality of scientific environment for applicants at the University;
- control of the content of licensing and accreditation files for compliance with the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine;
- informing postgraduate and doctoral students about opportunities to test research results, including participation in scientific events of various levels (conferences, seminars, etc.), grant programmes, academic mobility programmes (research internships, etc.);
- providing support for the activities of specialised academic councils of the University for awarding the degree of Doctor of Science and one-time specialised academic councils of the University with the right to accept for consideration and conduct a one-time defence of theses of applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy;
- providing the production of documents on higher education for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy;
- preparation of reporting documents on the work of the Doctoral School, provision of necessary information on the training of scientific personnel to Vice-Rector for Research, Rector and Academic Council of the University;
- ensuring compliance with the requirements of regulatory documents for the training of postgraduate and doctoral students, as well as the preparation of the necessary regulatory acts related to their training at the University (reports, memos, submissions, orders, instructions, official correspondence, personal files, etc.).
